A Huge breath of air in the Sequoia National Park

This week we are going to a unique place in the world. We reach the Sequoia National Park that is in the southern part of Sierra Nevada mountain range in California.

It was set up in 1890 to protect the sequoia forest massifs who were threatened with destruction.

If you are on the West Coast of USA you can’t miss the giants of the world.

This gigantic forest leaves you speechless. When you walk through there incredibly large trees you feel small, but in a good way. The landscape is like a dream! When you look up to the sky among tree branches you feel like you’re hypnotized.

It attracts over a million visitors each year. This dramatic landscape testifies to nature’s size, beauty, and diversity–huge mountains, rugged foothills, deep canyons, vast caverns, and the world’s largest trees. Sounds great! These things are just unbelievable and we were excited to be spending a whole day exploring this amazing park!
We had the chance to see a bear who was intimidated by the cameras, he sank into the forest to have a little privacy.

I’ve heard of immense trees but I never imagined that I would walk in a forest with such trees. Furthermore, I never understood how amazing they are until I stood before such a tree. Is an experience that makes you look as high as possible and as far as possible and that makes you want to explore, to discover, to expand your knowledge.
The giant sequoia trees are the tallest trees on the earth today. The name „sequoia” is given after the Indian ruler “Cherokee Sequoyah” (1776–1842), the one who invented the unique alphabet teaching the people to read and write. Fascinating!

There huge trees can reach the age of 5000 years, which can have a height of more than 100 m, a trunk diameter of 13 m and a weight of 2400 t.

The undisputed King of the Forest, the General Sherman Tree is not only the largest living tree in the world, but the largest living organism, by volume, on the planet. He is the super star. Everyone wishes for a picture with it and they have many reasons for that because General Sherman is: 2,100 years old, has 2.7 million pounds, it is 275 feet tall and 100 feet wide at its trunk. This tree has enough wood material to build 40 houses with 5 rooms each. The outer bark of this tree is thought to be over meter thick.

The General Sherman tree grows in the Giant Forest, which contains five of the ten largest trees in the world.
After we walked and we were oxygenating our lungs with the giant air from these fascinating trees, we went to the Giant Forest Museum. It offers information about giant sequoias and human history in the forest. The historic museum was built in 1928 by architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood.

It is wonderful to be among the greatest beings in the world and enjoy the scenery and explore. It’ s a kind of magic! Another miracle of nature I had the happiness of seeing!
